EuroDIG 2020 - the first fully virtual IGF conference

EuroDIG 2020 (European Dialogue on Internet Governance) was the first fully virtual National and Regional IGF initiatives meeting, held 10-12 June as a satellite event in the overall programme of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF).

With the theme “Towards a sustainable governance of the Internet”, this year's EuroDIG revolved around the following focus areas:

• Co-operation, legislation, and standardization;
• Leverage connecting the unconnected (In particular, 5G, community networks, East-West relations);
• Data governance and data security;
• Media issues;
• Security and standards in the DNS.

As noted by organizers, with a record of 1200 registered participants from all over the globe, this first virtual EuroDIG could open its metaphorical doors to many people who would have otherwise not participated.
